South Africa is changing the rules that will shape how electricity is bought, sold and supplied in the future.
NERSA is asking the public to comment on the proposed Market Code and Market Rules. These rules may sound technical, but they could affect the electricity issues that matter most to ordinary South Africans, like cost, reliability, fairness and whether more renewable energy can be part of the system.
Right now, many South Africans are already under pressure from high electricity prices, load shedding, rising living costs and an energy system that does not always work for everyone. This is your chance to tell NERSA that South Africa’s future electricity system must be:
- Affordable for households and communities
- Reliable and better able to meet people’s needs
- Fair, transparent and open to public benefit
- Supportive of more renewable energy
- Designed to benefit ordinary South Africans, not only big companies and industry players
Just Power Mzansi is making it easy to take part.
Complete the form on this page, add your comment, and give us permission to submit it to NERSA on your behalf before the deadline.
